Miranda July

After hearing about my idea Cheryl informed me of the artist Miranda July's work - Learning to Love You More, who's work is relevant to my project.

The project featured the public's interpretations of brief's July had set. For instance Assignment #69
Climb to the top of a tree and take a picture of the view.

Here are a few examples relating to this brief:

"This is the view from the top of my backyard apricot tree, the second tree from the fence."

Andrea Manica
Kitchener, Ontario CANADA

"This tree is located just east of on Abboud Road in Forbes Park Colorado."

Peter Max Lawrence
Fort Garland, Colorado USA

"this is the willow tree planted by elliot in the community garden located in red hook, brooklyn. this is the willow tree i would sit under with my typewriter and read stories and text for nothing. elliot had introduced me to samuel beckett over the summer and i fell in love under that willow tree and with those words written some time ago."

Sabina Margaret A.
Brooklyn, New York USA

The very simple nature of this brief enables the submitters to achieve July's wishes very easily, with very little editing from July herself, this will be similar to the way I will be working as I feel that the less I specify of the images, the more freedom the artist's will have with their self portraits, in turn generating more creative results.
